Replacing Thesis…

This website is currently using a WordPress theme called Thesis, but unless @pearsonified has a change of heart and stops violating the WordPress GPL license, we will cease using Thesis on this website and all other websites under our control.

We are now actively looking for alternative themes. We have mainly been using Thesis to sketch out sites and build mock-ups for clients, so we’re looking for another GPL compliant theme that does the same. We are currently looking at Canvas, Genesis and Hybrid. If you have other suitable suggestions, we would love to hear about them!

In the exact same position at the moment. Got my Thesis refund yesterday and looking at Headway, Canvas and Hybrid. I have a lot of time for Justin so will definitely give Hybrid a go, but also seriously considering Canvas as well. Now that Headway have changed their licence setup (still waiting for details on that) I think its worth a look as well.

Headway looks nice, thanks!

I didn’t realise Pearson was giving out refunds? Not sure I’ll ask for one, had the dev license for years and got a lot of use out of it. Also I would still like to use Thesis again, but only once he starts seeing sense.

Agree totally, I hope this gets resolved. I had just started using Thesis (so was still within the 30 day guarantee) and it looked fantastic. Just can’t commit to a platform that is attracting that kind of negative attention from WordPress. Just too risky IMO.

Risky is right! Will be very interesting to see how the situation develops…

Very pleased that @pearsonified has adopted the WordPress GPL. Happy to still be using Thesis, it is a great theme. Will still check out the other offerings at some point.

I’ve been testing out Headway recently. There’s a review over on WPTavern at the moment which is a good read.
